We're joining other Fire and Rescue Services to celebrate International Women's Day 2024, running events throughout the week from 4-8 March.

We will update this page with events as they become available.

These events are for all staff, cadets and volunteers at fire and rescue services.

Monday, 4 March 

10:00-11:00    Count Her In: Invest in Women. Accelerate Progress.

Hosted by Surrey Fire and Rescue and Surrey County Council.

Please note this in an "in person" event held at Oak Lecture Theatre.  

The event will showcase two keynote speeches by distinguished speakers, Dany Cotton and Liz Mills, who will generously share their career experiences and leadership insights. Subsequently, we will delve into a lively panel discussion, addressing several crucial topics. Our esteemed panelists, including Karen Pointer, Dany Cotton, Liz Mills, Funke Adelekun, and Nikki Parkill, will contribute their expertise to explore key themes of leadership, skills development and training, encouraging peer mentorship, long term career sustainability and more. 

We will follow up with some further information on our keynote speakers and some of our panel members.

Hosted by East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service and Katie Breathwick.

Spend some time with Classic FM presenter and co-creator of #YoureWrongAboutADHD The Podcast Katie Breathwick. Diagnosed with ADHD as an adult, Katie has been asking some of the questions you may want answers to as well. 12:30 – 13:15 - Yoga with Jade Goodling

Hosted by Instructor Live in collaboration with Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue

Yoga can calm an anxious mind, whether due, a challenging job, or anything else going on in your life.

Jade, a Yoga Instructor who works with Instructor Live, will lead this gentle yoga session for all ages, fitness levels, and body types. Everyone can benefit from this practice, whether a seasoned yogi or a complete beginner.

‘On International Women’s Day, I invite you to step onto the mat, for a 30 minute empowering feminine energy yoga flow. Celebrating not only all of the women in our lives, but also celebrating what our bodies & minds can do.’

10:00 - 11:00 - Strengths and authenticity 

Hosted by East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service and Mike Lennon.

Join Mike Lennon for a workshop focusing on the importance of strengths as empowering pathways to authenticity and being your true to self. Explore why we should appreciate, nurture and encourage strengths and authenticity for individual and group wellbeing.

Mike is passionate about supporting the wellbeing and performance of others, and loves working with people and groups through the means of coaching and training to help them thrive and flourish in their work and lives.
